NWAC has administered the Aboriginal Human Resources Development Agreement (AHRDA) to since 1999 and would like to expand and enhance the support it provides to Aboriginal women to better skills and increase employability leading to integration into the labour market across all sectors.
NWAC is one of only two “national” Aboriginal Human Resources Development Agreement (AHRDA) holders in Canada with a mandate to service off-reserve Aboriginal women clients. The current NWAC annual AHRDS budget is $2 million, which represents less than 1% of the total federal AHRDS program investment of approximately $350 million annually. Despite very limited resources, NWAC and its Provincial and Territorial Member Associations (PTMAs) are increasing internal capacity to meet the administrative and service delivery requirements of the Agreement.
