NWAC holds a vision for program and policy that reflects the needs of Aboriginal women and families. This vision includes opportunities for women in the labour market, including opportunities for training and employment to allow for Aboriginal women to secure full-time, well-paying jobs, as well as benefits to support the needs of both individuals and families.
As the national voice of Aboriginal women in Canada, NWAC is well positioned to play a direct role with respect to federal labour force development for Aboriginal women, and will develop a strategic business plan through on-going discussion with HRSDC representatives and discussions with NWAC stakeholders to outline appropriate delivery options that meet the needs of Aboriginal women.
Through Labour Market Development (LMD) initiatives such as the Aboriginal Human Resource Development Agreement (AHRDA), Aboriginal Skills and Employment and Training Strategy (ASETS), and the Aboriginal Skills and Training Strategic Investment Fund (ASTSIF), NWAC is utilizing the specific expertise of culture and gender-based analysis in the approach to developing opportunities to improve Aboriginal women's participation in the labour market.
