HRSDC confirmed existing AHRDA holders have been identified as the primary stakeholders and eligible applicants under the new Aboriginal Skills and Employment and Training Strategy and the 6 month AHRDA extension (reflects half of the overall full year AHRDA budget) is in place to transition into the new Aboriginal Skills and Employment and Training Strategy (ASETS) in October 2010.
NWAC is committed to the development of a Strategic Business plan that focuses on the ASETS three strategic priorities: 1) Demand driven skills development, 2) Partnerships, 3) Accountability for improved results. Within the Strategic Business plan and under the ASETS pillars, NWAC will identify opportunities for collaboration, economies and efficiencies of scale, models to meeting minimum levels of service and accountability requirements, address employer-demand and develop/maintain partnerships.
January 2010 - HRSDC carried out the NWAC Phase I ASETS Engagement Session. NWAC has received the Phase II templates and information from HRSDC and update have been provided to the NWAC the Projects Committee, with further input, direction and discussion schedule to coincide with the next NWAC stakeholders meeting.
