SIS workshops were designed to educate participants on the SIS initiative and also remind everyone that all these women are daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, and grandmothers who are deeply loved and missed. The SIS team utilized its research to strategize and target specific regions and demographics to deliver our Community Awareness and Youth Violence Prevention Workshops. This work in the community helped the team to accurately determine the needs of the community, of the family, and of individuals. As the SIS team built relationships with families, they often noticed common areas of frustration for those who were dealing with the loss of a loved one. In an effort to provide guidance and also empower families, tool-kits were created and distributed to communities in the themes of:
- SIS Brochure
- Raising Awareness
- Unlocking the Mystery of Media Relations
- Navigating the Missing Persons Process
- Safety Measures for Aboriginal Women
- Mobilizing the Caring Power of Community
- Professional Development for Law Enforcement
