- Identifying barriers and opportunities to Aboriginal women’s participation in the labour market;
- Actively seeking out partnerships through networking at tradeshows and conferences;
- Participating and developing engagement sessions to ensure that the voice of Aboriginal women is heard;
- Developing policy and/or position papers to advance Aboriginal women’s priorities, needs, and knowledge of the labour market; and
- Creating and distributing the LMD Information Bulletin.
Through our research initiatives, SPA develops policy and position papers on a variety of employment and labour market topics. Research is conducted through literature reviews, surveys and environmental scans. SPA has multiple resources developed as a result of our research:

SPA conducts engagement sessions to bring Aboriginal women closer to the issues that affect them. Engagement sessions have been held with resource development companies, Aboriginal women, and grassroots organizations like the Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto.

SPA’s network has been rapidly expanding. By engaging with other organizations through trade shows, conferences, and presentations, our reach has grown from a small list of individuals to a broad collection of organizations across Canada. By partnering with other companies, SPA increases the circulation of labour market information and connects Aboriginal women with opportunities.
